  5. Well i think it's because that's what each country are famous for. German are famous for their abilites to make cars (Benz), Italian for their artist (Leonardo Da Vinci), and Bangkok for its temple (Wat arun, Wat prakaew)

  6. Peter here's some more clues. Think of the specific name for a german sports car. A temple clue is one with the number 5 in its name (not haa). As for the Italian artist, well its not Da Vinci but still as famous. Then you are looking for something that links everything together.

Thank you for trying Peter, may be you need to get the family on this one. Good Luck!

  9. Hey! thats hard..
    we need clues please!!!!

  10. i know i know..
    the artist is Donatello (one of the Italian Renaissance Artists) the car is Porche n the temple is Wat Benjamabophit...;
    donno.. jus guessing..

    ReplyDelete
  11. Good but Donatello was not the only one to sculpt 'David'. Also you need the model name of the Porche. The Wat name is correct but you still have not found the connection.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The sculpter was Michaelangelo. The Wat name, as mentioned before, is Wat Benjamabophit. The Porche model I have no idea. Any more clues?

    ReplyDelete
  13. The clue is in the name of the model of Porche. If you look at the model tag on my Porche in the staff car park you would be almost there. Ok, thats not fair. The Porche model is a name not a number. Also if you search 'Michaelangelo and 'The Giant'' should bring you closer.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Two possible answers,

    (1) The porche is the Porche Rover 25, 45 and 75 range, Michealangelo was born in 1475 and Wat Benjamabophit is know as "The Temple of the 5th King" Therefore the connection is the number 5.

    (2) Some parts of the Porche range is built in Italy, Michealangelo was Italian and Wat Benjamabophit is covered by Italian Marble, therefore the connection is Italy

  15. The Porsche model could be Boxter, Cayenne, Cayman, or Carrera. Maybe 911, but they look too good for a teacher to have (sorry). Which one is it? And how's it supposed to help?

    ReplyDelete
  16. it's that MR.B has models of them all!..?

    ReplyDelete
  17. hey! that's not fair! a teacher shouldn't be able to answer!

  18. What a cheek. Teaching is just a hobby!! I'm a man of independent wealth:-))

back to the quiz: The car is a carrera. The temple walls are covered with marble. But what’s that got to do with Michelangelo? Honestly, a bit of lateral thinking is called for.

Thw quiz is now open to the combined might of the Patana Staff!!

    Your close very close!!!!

  19. In the end the answer is one word. If you review the comments above almost all the information you require is already given. The 'challenge' is to put it all together. Have another look!!

  23. Carrera is the type of marble that the wat is made from.
Carreara is the car and the stone the statues are made from is marble. So CARRERA is the key word.

  24. Wat Benjamabophit is constrcuted with marble which is imported from Italy. Therefore, the Italian scluptors: Donatella and Michael Angelo both come from Italy, where they were both artists that scuplted the vatican City as well...which is in Italy. Carrera is an Italian name for a type of marble, which is also used to scuplt up Wat Benjamabophit..So all these clues are related to Italy and the Carrera Marble, which also comes from Italy.

  26. WINNER: CHULAPAT 10T

If you look at the rules of the competition it says you must post your name to the answer.

Therefore Chulapat of 10t is the winner with the correct connection.

    The word is Carrera:

Name of the Porsche sports car

The place from which the marble used in Wat Benjamabophit

The place from which the marble used to make the Statue of David (Michelangelo) comes from

    Did You Know:

Did you know that David was the name of the model who posed for Michelangelo. That he was also the quarry worker at carrera where Michelangelo selected the block of stone called 'The Giant' from which the statue was carved. David is supposed to represent David who slay Goliath and then went onto become King David of the Old Testament. However Michelangelo made an anatomical error in his statue. His statue is uncircumcised but David of biblical fame would almost certainly have been circumcised.

Well done everyone: Come back for Next weeks ‘Snack Card Challenge’

  32. Oh my giddy Aunt !
There are so many mistakes in all this I don't know where to begin !
Firstly, let's all spell Porsche correctly.
Secondly, much more importantly, let's spell Carrara properly.
The car and the marble have no connection whatsover.
Chulapat, hand that SNACK COUPON over to me NOW !!!
Try googling "Carrera marble" and you will get 5,760 hits, but try googling "Carrara marble" and you will get 46,200 hits. This is a commonly mis-spelt name. In fact, if you spell Carrara with triple r in the middle - CARRRARA - you still get 32 hits !
Carrara is in Northern Tuscany and WAS famous in Michaelangelo's day for the purity of its white marble ; he would go and select marble there himself. By the way, the name Carrara simply means "quarry" ( carriere in French ).
The Porsche Carrera is not named after the Tuscan town but after the Carrera Panamericana Mexico Road Race. Carrera is thus Spanish for "career" ( as in careering down the road ).
This road race was called "The Race of Giants" so a better connection might be that Michaelangelo's statue is a giant one, and so is the Carrera Panamericana.
And you're even wrong about the circumcision bit - David may well have been circumcised, but in early Old Testament times this operation was only to remove the redundant extension of the foreskin beyond the glans.
Quote : Milah: Symbolic Circumcision of Covenant
The original Biblical circumcision of Abraham's time was a relatively minor ritual circumcision procedure in which only the redundant end of the foreskin extending beyond the tip of the glans was removed. This was called "Milah". It is from this term that the Jewish Religious Covenant circumcision ritual Bris Milah or Brith Milah got its name.

Following "Milah", a penis so circumcised would still contain a considerable portion of the foreskin and the penis would have continued to go through its natural development since most of the foreskin would have remained intact. Protection of the glans would still have occurred. The foreskin would not be stripped back off the glans and would naturally separate from the glans gradually as the child matures, much as it would had the child not been circumcised. The sensitive frenulum would not have been disturbed or moved, and the foreskin remaining would continue to cover and protect a substantial portion of the glans, especially when flaccid, and the glans would appear as uncircumcised. There would be minimal loss of sensitivity or intended protection.

This type circumcision continued throughout the ages and during the time of Christ. The circumcision of Christ would have been this type circumcision as referred to in the bible. Indeed, biblical reference to circumcision is strictly this form of circumcision. It continued into the New Testament. It has been argued that Michelangelo's David should show David as Circumcised. Interestingly, Michelangelo presented David precisely as he should have appeared following an infant "Milah" circumcision. His glans is essentially covered with only the tip of the glans showing.
Italians do criticise 'il pisello' or tiny penis of David, but a recent article ( in The Lancet or Nature, I think ) points out that the male genitals do shrink in fera or before an audacious action ( other than sex ! ) and that this rendering, like the muscle-bound forehead and tensioned arm and leg muscles are exactly right for David about to take on Goliath.

    Dear Mr Moore

tut tut.. you did not spell check your own work; A touch of the Kettle calling the Copper Black I think.

Why did you copy and paste that article. Why didnt re-write (in your own words) that article like we are always told to in school!!!!!

There are just as many articles which support the thing thatMr Burrel says. I know because we looked it all up in lessons today with our teacher.

If you read carefully you also will see that the post is a suggestion not a stated fact.

Is lateral thinking spelling dependent...my extended essay for next year.

    Nice one Mr B!!!!!!!!!
